Paths Motorized vehicles are prohibited on the bike paths. Bicycle riders must use the bicycle paths where provided. Riders are required to have lights and reflectors for night driving.
Fireworks & Fires
Fireworks and fires are prohibited in the Town of Edisto.
Geography Edisto Island is approximately 55 square miles and Edisto Beach is approximately 4.5 miles long.
Golf Carts In order to operate a golf cart in the Town of Edisto Beach, you must do the following:
- Have a valid driver's license
- Have a permit frm the S.C. Dept of Public safety
- Have proof of ownership
- Have proof of insurance
- Operate the cart on secondary highway or street within two miles of the residence, during daylght hours only
- Cross only and not travel on, a primary highway or street

Parking Parking is available along our streets and several beach access areas but prohibited on bike paths. Please note that ordinance require that you park only with the flow of traffic on streets and right-of-ways.
Liquor Laws South Carolina states that liquor may be sold in restaurants and bars, Monday - Friday 10 am - 2 am, and Saturday, 10am - midnight. No sales on Sunday, except in private clubs or a restaurant that has a special Sunday license. Packaged beer and wine may be purchased from licensed retail outlets (bars, grocery stores, convenience stores, etc.) Monday - Saturday, until midnight and on Sunday in the Town of Edisto Beach and in Charleston County. Liquor stores are open Monday - Saturday 9 am - 7 pm. You must be 21 years old to consume or purchase alcoholic beverages in the state of South Carolina.

Turtles Loggerhead turtle nesting seasons run from may to October each year. The female lays approximately 120 eggs in a nest in the sand. These nests are protected and monitored by volunteer turtle patrols. Outside lights on the ocean side and underneath homes should be turned off at dusk during nesting season. Fines are imposed for violations.
Water A reverse osmosis treatment system is located at Edisto Beach Town Hall at 2414 Murray street, in front of the fire department. Bring your own containers. There is a 5 gallon limit per day and there is no charge.
