You won't find large department or chain stores here or any of those coastal outlets stores found up the road an hour or so. Edisto's shopping is mostly locally owned and looks to provide you with the necessities which to anyone coming to Edisto would be board games, books,fishing gear and bait, kites, body boards, towels, sandals and sun tan lotion.

If you can't buy it here you probably don't really need it and can live without it. But relax, if you want those other things, Charleston is only an hour away. This wonderful historic city provides a variety of shopping opportunities.
